DIY :: Kiddo Clubhouse

Grandpa Hausfrau has been busy.  This clubhouse is the newest addition to our "backyard."  My oldest son turned five last week, and my dad built this clubhouse while we were in North Carolina on spring break.  The boys are so excited and have been walking in and out of their little house while my dad is hard at work hammering and sawing.  We have big plans for painting this week.  I'll be sure to post once I've completed the detail work.  My parents were in charge of the big-picture design and construction and I'm in charge of the finishing work (i.e., painting and sealing).

I'm so proud of my dad. The man who has never used Craigslist in his life, posted a heartfelt message telling the story of building a clubhouse for his grandsons.  He expressed his need for roofing felt and shingles, and presto - within a couple of days, two people stepped forward and provided him with free supplies.  Both people had these lying around in their garages - extra supplies from their own home projects.  The true defintion of Free-cycling.  I love it.

Stay tuned for the final pics of the painting. And check out my Top 10 Tips for Thrifting on Craigslist here.

Great story. Bet your boys are tickled. I know my girls would have been when growing up. Think they will let you put up curtains? Well, maybe will camo fabric!
